The Devil in Me

The Devil in Me is an award-winning cinematic horror game, within the Dark Pictures franchise. The game takes place in a hotel filled with deadly traps based around the murders of the serial killer H.H Holmes, following a film crew as they try to escape. As the player progress through the game they are confronted with a variety of decisions, which has effects that can vary from minor relationship changes between the cast to their permeant death.

In my role I was working in a strike team focused on pushing a selection of levels from alpha up to release quality. Alongside this I was tasked by the executive team with a pass across our intermediary ‘Curator’ levels to make sure all the cameras and animations in those scenes had a consistent feel throughout the game.

During my time on the project I was also responsible for multiple game wide passes to set up the achievements and ensure the subtitles were implemented properly.

I was also given the responsibility of leading the implementation of the ‘bearings’ system which tracks significant story choices the player makes. As part of this I had to ensure they matched with narrative changes to the project and develop an understanding of a system that few members of the team had experience with.
